Sarah Custance married Anthony Norris in 1737. Their only son John died in 1762 and Anthony died in 1786. On Sarah’s death in 1787, the estate passed to Sarah’s niece Susannah Durrant. After they were orphaned, Susannah and her sister Sarah lived with Anthony and Sarah Norris at Barton Hall and following Sarah Norris’s death, the sisters commissioned a monument to her in Barton Turf Church.
