Next door we see the only clay cottage left in the village. This is the last of 10 or 11 clay dwellings that used to be down this road. The thatched clay section at the front, although small, was once two dwellings of one up and one down. It was re-thatched in 1995 and in 2003 an extension was added to the rear.
James Haylett, the last basket maker in the parish, lived here till the early 1940s . . .
