There were Lubbocks in Barton Turf from at least around the middle of the eighteenth century. They continued to live in the parish into the twentieth century.  Early parish register entries have a variety of spellings of the family name, including Liveuck, Livick, Livock, Livouck and Lovick.

Leonard Lubbock, born in 1831, became the carrier for the village, recorded as such in trade directories from 1890 to 1904 and in the 1891 and 1901 census returns. His daughter, Elizabeth, married Oliver Shepherd, who took over the business.

The Lubbocks have connections to the Amys, Baldwin, Platford, Shepherd and Yaxley families.

We are currently researching Lubbock family links with Barton Turf and would welcome any information. If you can help, please contact the project team.
