Shepherds lived in Barton Turf from around the middle of the nineteenth century until well into the twentieth century and there is at least one Shepherd descendant living in Barton Turf in 2011.

Oliver Shepherd took over the business of carrier from his father-in-law Leonard Lubbock and is recorded as such in trade directories from 1908 to 1937.

The Shepherds were connected to the Edrich, Lubbock and Yaxley families.
